Some call it 'Tartan print' but for me, this is a 'Maasai print' because it is widely associated with the 'Maasai' of East Africa. I used a 'Maasai shuka' to make this a ruffle skirt whose design was inspired by the popular Gingham ruffle skirts. I made this skirt a couple of months ago when I needed a 'Kenyan-inspired' outfit to attend the 'Sauti Sol' concert in Berlin (but it has since then lost some inches on the hemline). This is what I wore to a work Christmas Party earlier last week, dinner & later a very intersting comedy show at the 'Imperial Theater' in Reeperbahn. Red is the colour of the season & this shift dress is perfect. I combined it with my favourite platform heels to finish off this 60's inspired look.

Remember when Sanaipei Tande (a Kenyan musician & Radio Host) was once featured on Pulse Magazine in a Slip dress at some Award Show, and everyone (me included) was like, ''Why on earth is she wearing a a nightdress out of the house?'' Well, now I've been forced to eat my words because here I am wearing a Slip dress from my new collection, not once, but in 5 different outfits.
