It showcases the entire history of the Ruhrgebiet, from the formation of coal 300 Million years ago to the current structural change towards the Ruhr Metropolis. The 'Freilichtmuseum am Kiekeberg' is quite an interesting place to visit, with over 40 historical buildings which include farmhouses, Barns & workshops which are built in the same way as those between 1600 to the 1950's. A warm day spent at a Fashion Museum that is situated inside an ancient Castle is my defination of a good day. Schloss Meyenburg which was build in the early 1400 was restored and turned into a Museum that includes a Fashion Museum, Historical Museum & a public library.
